Why New Years Resolutions Don’t Work!

Why don’t resolutions work…..Let see!  Today is January 2nd….what have you done to make your resolutions come closer to reality. Tomorrow is the greatest labor-saving device every designed to keep us from having to change.  If you wanted to lose weight as part of your goals for the New Year, you probably woke up this morning and ate the same breakfast as you did before you decided to lose weight or you skipped breakfast completely, both of which will get you no closer to weight loss.  If you are waiting until after the weekend is over, you will never get started.  Should you skip breakfast completely you will in all likelihood just eat twice as much for lunch and/or dinner making it harder for your body to digest and probably gain more weight.

You want to lose weight and keep it off, eat from a smaller plate.  We eat from platters and fill them up, eat from a salad plate and stop when the food is gone.  A salad plate holds about the right amount of food and is the right size to fill up the average sized stomach.  It is also a constant reminder of your commitment to a thinner you.

Many Photographers have vowed to become a better photographer for the New Year.  Have you ordered any new books, DVD’s or scheduled any seminars-conventions yet?  You had all day yesterday and this morning, what are you waiting for?  You can’t just wish yourself a better photographer!  You actually have to study and practice, but this is why success isn’t as hard as most people think.  Most people want to be very successful in their chosen careers, but when it comes down to taking the necessary steps, they fall short and come up with the same resolutions next year as they had this year.

If you want to be a better photographer, do something today to make yourself a better photographer.  Order a book or DVD, take a trip to the local library or book store.  Once you have done that, set up a sample session for this coming week to force yourself to get new ideas from the information in the book or DVD.  When you start the sample session don’t do one thing the same as you always do.  Learn new poses, try new lighting , use your current backgrounds and sets in different ways or if you go outdoors (good luck to most of us with this weather!) go to a new spots or locations you have never been to before.  By nature people hate change, but success happens to those that don’t fear change but embrace it!  Take the necessary steps today to make your tomorrow a better one!
